With the progression of age, numerous changes occur in the face. In addition to a decrease in skin elasticity and wrinkles, the skin often becomes paler with age. It is less plump and has a poorer blood supply. The layer of fat under the skin and the bone substance decreases, which can further increase sagging of the skin via loss of volume.
Prevention and correction of wrinkles
The accidental discovery of the effect of botulinum toxin on skin wrinkles has revolutionized aesthetic dermatology.
Regular injections in certain areas can stop the formation of wrinkles around the forehead, eyes and mouth. Similarly, botulinum toxin injections can lead to strong improvements in the neck area. Regular injections at intervals of 4-6 months are necessary. Over time, injections do not need to be as frequent to maintain optimal results.
Liquid face lift according to Dr Gregor:
Tissue augmentation with hyaluronic acid
Hyaluronic acid aims to lift and substitute areas of tissue that have been lost due to age-related loss of fatty tissue in the facial area.
Dr Gregor works with a range of different hyaluronic acids. Depending on texture and strength, these last between 6-24 months and are chosen based on the area of application. Sagging areas of the face can be lifted in this way.
Generally speaking, depending on their viscosity, hyaluronic acid fillers should be injected in different layers of the skin. Harder fillers of high viscosity should be placed deep on the bone of the face where they can augment and lift more superficial skin layers. Softer and more liquid fillers can be injected more superficially where they primarily improve the moisture content of the skin, enhancing skin plumpness and radiance. Typical common side effects after injections are swelling, redness and bruising, which usually disappear within a few days. Rarely, lumps and infections can occur. The advantage of hyaluronic acid is that it can be dissolved at any time by injecting hyaluronidase if the results or side effects are unsatisfactory. It can also be combined with the use of calcium hydroxylapatite (Radiesse®), polylactic acid (Sculptra®) and polycaprolactone (Ellansé®).
Dr Gregor Holzer usually builds up a liquid facelift in several sessions to achieve a very natural and material-saving result without looking puffy and unnatural. Individual wrinkles are not meticulously filled, but rather entire facial areas that have lost volume and tone with age are restored.
Combination with other procedures can result in long-term and significant rejuvenation of the treated areas.
Eye circles, cheeks, temples, as well as the mouth and chin lines are harmonized.
Numerous manifestations of skin aging such as pigmentary shifts, sun spots, wrinkles and fine lines as well as a shallow complexion can be significantly improved by chemical peeling. If there is additional sun damage and skin cancer precursors, photodynamic therapy can be considered, which additionally beautifies the skin and has an important function in white skin cancer prophylaxis.
Spider veins and hemangiomas can be significantly reduced by vascular lasers. The combination of these procedures makes the skin look younger and fresher without the risk of looking altered. Therefore, these procedures are especially suitable for patients who want a significant improvement of the skin, but want to keep their naturalness and complete facial expression at any cost.
